The region

Silkeborg is a great destination for gravel biking enthusiasts. With its scenic landscapes the area offers a variety of terrain for riders of all skill levels. Silkeborg city is surrounded by beautiful forests, rolling hills, and several lakes and features a network of gravel roads that wind through forests, meadows, and lakeshores.

The Silkeborg Forests are the largest forest area in Denmark. Here you will find fantastic cycling in a rich cultural landscape with remains telling that people have been travelling the area for centuries. This also means a number of villages spread in the landscape, so there are good chances for a stop for a coffee.

Gudenåen is the longest river in Denmark, running through the landscape and forming the Silkeborg Lakes. For gravel riders both a tour around some of the lakes and a ride on the “Trækstien” (“the Traction Path”), that were used for dragging the boats on the river in former times, are not to be missed.

  • 5 days of guided tours (more distances each day)
  • Challenges and great experiences in the nature

  • The fantastic hotel Vejlsøhus
  •  ”Silkeborg by night” – great atmosphere, wine and beer

The surroundings of Silkeborg is covered by the largest forest in Denmark. Combined with the river Gudenaa and the many lakes this turns out in a really unique landscape where the history clearly dates back to the last ice age. Rolling hills, deep forests and cultural history awaits you.

Former railroad tracks crosses in Silkeborg – four of these are now converted into quiet cycling lanes. Along the river there also runs a beautiful lane where we will ride in the footsteps of history, following the tracks of [pramme] used to carry goods on the river.

Gravel riding is also social riding. It is not about getting there first – it’s about having fun and enjoying the nature. All routes are available as gpx-files, so if you should want to speed up (or down) a day or two you just go on your own – and we will meet at the hotel.

Gravel bike or mountain bike for this event? Totally up to you – just ride your bike :-)
