The region
With its countless kilometres of developed cycle paths, cycle roads and cycle highways, Germany is a Mecca for leisurely and relaxed cyclists. But besides these already developed cycle paths, there are many different landscapes, terrains and unique natural regions that lie off the signposted cycle paths, in which there are still countless kilometres of cycle paths to be discovered.
One of these regions is Hassberg, located in the north of Bavaria, directly on the border with Thuringia. With its ideal mix of dirt and paved roads that run through vineyards, it is an ideal region to explore by gravel bike. Besides wine, the region is known for beer and castles, so there is something to discover on every ride. The mix of flat stretches along the river Main and smaller and larger mountains in the woodland behind provide a wonderful variety of tours. What more could a gravel lover ask for?
