If the bicycle has long been a symbol of freedom, the Gravel Bike is the freedom that was missing between the advantages of the road bikes and those of the mountain bike. Getting on unpaved roads makes so many more routes accessible, enriching the already known itineraries with new variations and broadening the cycling possibilities.

Beyond the classic paved backroads that Italy is known for, going unpaved means using mule tracks, ancient walking paths, or even the quaint cobblestone roads as we explore ancient hamlets and hilltop towns. Italy is also famous for its  “strade bianche” dirt roads crossing postcard scenery, as well as the more recently discovered rail-to-trail paths. What about experiencing the deep nature cycling along the forest roads that lead you into the most remote and fascinating forests? All of this becomes a possibility with the gravel bike.

Lastly, going unpaved means getting away from vehicle traffic, on roads that are not technical enough to require a mountain bike. These same roads and paths allow us to reach gorgeous natural scenery and unspoiled small towns and villages.
